Lisa Roth participated as an observer on the caravan of the Zapatistas that went through Mexico in 2006 (called "The Other Campaign"), and she was present during the conflicts in Atenco and Oaxaca the same year. Since then she has followed Mexico closely from Norway, and just returned from an 8 months stay as a freelance journalist in Oaxaca and Cuernavaca. Roth holds a Master in Development Studies from the University of Ås, Norway. She wrote her master thesis on the conflict in Atenco and the criminalization of social movements in Mexico.
