TRISE 2017 conference
The Transnational Institute of Social Ecology (TRISE) is holding its annual conference in Thessaloniki, Greece, in September 1-3, 2017.
TRISE is a network of researchers and activists concerned with ecology and the development of cities. Its research aims, under the lens of social ecology, to look at both current urban policy and the experience of social movements.
The conference will last from Friday to Sunday and consists of a broad range of seminars, workshops, paper presentations and round-table discussions.
With the theme “The Right to the City: Toward democratic and ecological cities” we want to address the dire need to re-construct our cities – both physically, socially and politically.
The program will revolve around three sub-themes:
1) Recent developments and advancements in the theory of social ecology
2) Social ecology practices for urban system change (including Energy democracy, eco-technology, food systems, sanctuary cities etc.)
3) Case studies of radical urban movements in European cities
