New Compass Meeting about Participatory Democracy at the World Social Forum

On March 28th, New Compass together with Transnational Institute of Social Ecology (TRISE) organized a meeting on participatory democracy at the World Social Forum in Tunis. Over 50 participants shared their experiences and thoughts about different institutions and practices of direct and participatory democracy across the world, ranging from participatory budgeting in Brazil, village assemblies in Algeria, citizen participation in urban planning and resource management in France and Tunisian villages declaring independence from the state.
