Recently, a Union of Non-Profit Water Cooperatives of the Municipalities of the Thessaloniki area has emerged. The campaign—“Citizens’ Union for Water”—was created through the actions of "Initiative 136," which has been struggling for two years against the privatisation of EYATH and in favour of citizen´s control over Thessaloniki's water.
