Democracy and the Environmental Crisis

Opening panel discussing whether democracy and grassroots politics can solve the environmental crisis, at the Ecological Challenges conference in Oslo, Norway, September 26th 2014.

Panel participants include: Karen O'Brien, professor of Human Geography and lead author of 2014 UN climate panel report (Oslo, Norway); Ingerid Straume, author and activist (Oslo, Norway); Susan Guerra, activist and Director of community center (Oslo, Norway); and Arne Johan Vetlesen, professor of philosophy and prolific author on environmental subjects (Oslo, Norway).

The conference was co-organized with the Department of Sociology and Human Geography at the University of Oslo, and was sponsored by the Norwegian Research Council, the foundation Fritt Ord, the Department of Sociology and Human Geography at the University of Oslo, and by New Compass.
