Victor Serge's Mexican Notebooks

In the summer of 2013, New Left Review published an English translation of Victor Serge’s “Mexican Notebooks: 1940-1947.” These notebooks—taken from the lifelong revolutionary’s larger collection, Carnets—offer a number of reflections, insights, and hopes that Serge meditated upon during the post-war and post-revolutionary era of reaction. They offer much food for thought, both in the way of historically understanding the revolutionary tradition and as a warning for all future revolutionary movements.
