There were simultaneous demonstrations in six German cities. Düsseldorf had 5.000 participants; Potsdam had 2.000 participants; München 5.000; Mainz and Wiesbaden had 4.000; Hannover had 8.000; and Kiel had 5.000. People demanded their local governments to stop subsidizing coal and to not give any new concessions for coal mining, as coal is the main cause for CO2 emissions. They also demanded a phasing out of nuclear energy, and a quicker transition to renewable energy.

New demonstrations are scheduled for May 10th in Berlin. See the energiewende-campaign here.
